The audit does not need to be performed completely on all "3Ps" i.e. portfolio, program and project management together. For example, only project management or other parts of the P3M3 can be selected and focused on:
Project Management (PjM3)
Programme Management (PgM3)
Portfolio Management (PfM3)
Risk management (e.g. whether projects are systematically managing risks).
Finance management (e.g. how the financial reporting of projects is set up)
Resource management (e.g. whether resource planning and allocation is working)
Organisational Governance (e.g. compliance of projects with the organisation's rules and strategies)
Management control (e.g. standardisation of projects, internal rules for risk and change management, ...)
Benefits management (e.g. identification and verification of project benefits, including retrospective review of benefits)
Stakeholder management (e.g. whether project stakeholders are identified and effective communication takes place)
Self-assessment
Self-assessment is a single, reduced form of assessment carried out by an organisation on the basis of the evidence provided. The advantage is the short duration, but the disadvantage is the limited 'depth of immersion' and the low level of independence/objectivity. Here, 3 models (portfolio, programme, project) x 7 perspectives x 3 attributes per pespective = 63 areas in total are assessed.
Full certification assessment
The full certification assessment is provided by a certified ACP partner using the full certification toolkit and overseen by AXELOS. Here, 3 models (portfolio, programme, project) x 7 perspectives x 3 attributes per perspective x 5 maturity levels x 10-13 threads = up to 1,365 areas in total are assessed by an accredited partner.
Full assessment - further diagnostic
Full certification assessment is also provided by a certified ACP partner using the complete certification toolkit and under the supervision of AXELOS. Here, 3 models (portfolio, programme, project) x 7 perspectives x 3 attributes per perspective x 5 maturity levels x 13 threads x 3 orcs = a total of approx. 4,000 areas are assessed by an accredited partner.
