P3O® stands for "Project, Programme and Portfolio Office". It is a model for setting up and running project, programme and portfolio offices.
According to the best-practice P3O® model, a "project office" is a temporary support role linked to the life cycle of one specific project - i.e. its existence ends with the project.
This "office" can be seen as a unit for e.g. methodological and administrative support, coaching, know-how. Similarly, a programme office can be seen as a temporary support office for one programme. Permanent is the so-called portfolio office, which permanently supports portfolio management activities.
The program (MSP) consists of specific projects (PRINCE2) that have a common goal or project objective. If we are tasked with a more complex transformation or the realization of organizational, business or strategic goals, as a rule, the realization of this goal will require the management of more than one type of project.
That's exactly what Managing Successful Programs (MSP) is all about. Program goals are always at a strategic level and aim to meet organizational, business or transformational goals.
