The International Material Data System is an online database that documents and manages information about materials used in the automotive industry.
IMDS allows car manufacturers and suppliers to record and share information about the materials contained in products and components to ensure compliance with regulations and environmental standards, such as the EU's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive or the Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances Directive substances in electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
IMDS also helps the automotive industry monitor and manage risks associated with the use of materials and chemicals in the manufacturing process.
